  • Because He won’t let me be first
  • He loves me in spite of myself
  • He forgives me even when I didn’t notice I strayed
  • He graciously and often knocks me down on my knees
  • He kills, daily, in all ways
  • He doesn’t take me as seriously as I do myself
  • He isn’t a “helper” or a “cheerleader” or a “buddy” or a “support”; He is God
  • He straightforward redefined all of life and death in Himself, on the cross and beyond
  • He is clear in His Word and simple; we make it complicated
  • He is multiple “I Am’s” so I don’t have to be
  • He carries me and lets me believe I’m blazing the trail
  • He will not let me “have it my way”
  • He knows my heart, my mind, my sin and knows what to do with it
  • He is not impotent, mute or unnecessarily nice
  • He is tough in His love and consistent according to His Father’s will
  • He is not religious
  • He had a problem with the religious leaders of His day too
  • He is not a church member—He is church, He is life, He is Lord of all the living and the dead
  • He went to Hell and back for me so I could do the same for the “other” and not fear the consequences.
  • He abides with those who are alone, straying, searching, praying, living and dying
  • He will never let me kill Him again even though I wield the hammer in my hand daily
  • He won’t let my will be done and won’t give in to my whining often called prayer
  • He says “No” more often than we want to hear it
  • He doesn’t prioritize my personal happiness; He leads me in my followership as His disciple
  • He doesn’t bless the desires of my flesh and He isn’t confused as to what is sin and what is not
  • He blesses in ways that are often painful and undetected
  • He faces evil with the same that He has given me for “it is written”
  • He honestly told me what He called me into and never sugar coated it one bit
  • He told me to deny myself, pick up my cross and follow Him knowing He would have to do it for me.
  • I get in this life what He did. He said so. He is carrying me safely on His shoulders and so nothing is hopeless, dark, or desperate. He has redefined my life as He scattered all categories of this world by His preaching, teaching, living and death on the cross. He was raised from the dead to save me from myself for Himself. This is the possessive, eternal, hardcore love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. I cannot on my own believe in Him or come to Him or even love Him; He does even that for me and “for you” too!
  • Oh, for the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord!! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you! It ain’t cheap but it is free! Costly grace—for you and for me. A life for a life!
